On August 3, 2025, MOHAN Foundation participated in the 15th Indian Organ Donation Day organised by the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal. The day-long programme included an awareness drive, poster competition, and a pledging ceremony under the theme “Angdaan – Jeevan Sanjeevani Abhiyaan”. The event was held at the General Out-Patient Department (OPD) area of RIMS. Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (Northeast) and Project Lead (Manipur), MOHAN Foundation, represented the organisation.
The programme was graced by Prof. G. Sunil Kumar Sharma (Director, RIMS), Prof. N. Sanjib Singh (Medical Superintendent, RIMS Hospital), and Prof. Brogen Singh Akoijam (Dean, Academics, RIMS), along with senior officials, heads of departments, faculty members, students, patients, and representatives from the Centre for Research on Environmental Development (CRED).
As part of the awareness activities, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) stalls were set up by the Departments of Anatomy, Ophthalmology, Nephrology, and the College of Nursing, RIMS. MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with Ms. Chongtham Pritam, Medical Social Worker supporting the organ transplant programme at RIMS, also set up a stall that offered one-on-one guidance, distributed IEC materials, and facilitated on-site organ donation pledges.
A poster competition drew participation from over 30 individuals. Mr. Venish Keisham and Ms. Deepa Laishram from the Manipur University of Culture won the first and second prizes, respectively, while Mr. Nilotpal Das from RIMS secured third place. The winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
The event also featured a pledging ceremony, led by Prof. Sunil Kumar Sharma, who highlighted the life-saving potential of deceased organ donation. He further announced plans for the establishment of an eye bank at RIMS in the near future.
Later, Ms. Monica Devi presented an overview of the transplant achievements at RIMS. The programme witnessed participation from over 500 people, including students, faculty, hospital staff, and members of the public, and successfully reinforced the importance of organ donation as a gift of life.
