On March 23, 2026, MOHAN Foundation was invited to a voluntary blood donation and organ donation camp held at the Blood Centre, Babina Multi-Specialty Hospital, Khabeisoi. Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator, Northeast & Project Lead, Manipur, along with Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive from MOHAN Foundation, attended the event.
The event was organized in connection with the birthday celebration of Smt. Konsam Inakhunbi Leima, Proprietor of Lanchenbi Foods, Yurembam Makha Mamang Leikai and was jointly coordinated by the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Imphal East District Branch, Manipur; Lanchenbi Foods and Incubation Centre, Department of Vocational Studies and Skill Development, Manipur University.
Key attendees included Narendra Ningombam, Chairman, IRCS Manipur State Branch; A. Nabachandra, Secretary, IRCS State Branch; Dr. N. Amulkumar, Chairman, IRCS Imphal East Branch; and Dr. L. Shyamkumar, Medical Superintendent of Babina Multi-Specialty Hospital. H Roji, Blood Donor Coordinator, IRCS Imphal East; Dr. Nomita Keisham, Transplant Coordinator & Clinical Psychologist also attended the event.
Mr. Narendra Ningombam appreciated the initiative, describing organ donation as the noblest act. He emphasized that organs and tissues from one individual can save or enhance multiple lives, transcending differences of color, creed, and caste. He also commended Ms. Inakhunbi for transforming a personal occasion into a socially meaningful event.
Ms. Monica provided an overview of organ donation, addressing and clarifying common myths associated with it. She appreciated the Ms. Inakhunbi for her act of kindness and willingness to contribute to this cause. She highlighted that cornea and kidney transplant services are currently operational in the state, while preparations for initiating liver transplant services are underway. She further noted that kidney transplant services are available in the government sector at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), as well as in the private sector at Shija Hospital & Research Institute (SHRI) Pvt. Ltd and Babina Multi Specialty Hospital. She concluded by reiterating that one donor has the potential to save multiple lives.
The event concluded with Ms. Inakhunbi pledging for organ and tissue donation, followed by the handing over of the pledge certificate by the dignitaries, who also expressed gratitude to the participants for their commitment.
The event witnessed participation from around 30 individuals, while many others showed interest and raised queries about pledging as organ donors in the near future, collectively reinforcing the message of organ donation as a powerful and selfless act. The platform also opened avenues for MOHAN Foundation future collaboration with the IRCS and other partner organizations.
