On September 20, 2025, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, conducted an awareness talk during a Health Camp organized under the ongoing program “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” at Sainik School, Imphal. Representing MOHAN Foundation, Ms. Laishram Monica Devi, Program Coordinator (Northeast) & Project Lead (Manipur), introduced the Foundation and its mission of creating awareness on organ donation.
Subject experts from RIMS delivered sessions on Nutrition and Mental Hygiene, educating students on key aspects of overall well-being. The program also featured a Digital ABHA ID registration drive, yoga sessions to promote physical and mental wellness, and screenings for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) including hypertension, diabetes, and cancer.
In her talk, Ms. Monica emphasized the life-saving role of organ donation and its impact on improving the quality of life for patients in need. She explained the types of organ donation—living and deceased—and clarified key concepts such as brain death and coma. She also spoke about the demand-supply gap in organ transplantation, eligibility criteria for donors, and the process of registering as an organ donor. By addressing myths and misconceptions, she provided accurate, evidence-based information, encouraging participants to pledge their organs and fostering a culture of awareness and altruism within the community.
In addition, free medical services were provided through health camps organized in collaboration with Adarsh Hospital and Sainik School, Imphal, ensuring accessible healthcare for students and the local community.
Nearly 70 participants attended the session, gaining valuable insights into organ donation and its importance. The event reinforced the commitment of MOHAN Foundation and RIMS to promoting holistic health, preventive care, and organ donation awareness as part of broader community health initiatives.
