On December 30, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC), Mantripukhri, Imphal East, Manipur. The session was led by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, and Mr. Bidyananda Laishram, Senior Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation.
The program was organized in coordination with Mr. Kiran, Program Head – AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy).
Ms. Priya opened the session by introducing the team and continued with an overview of the concept and significance of organ donation. She explained the distinction between living and deceased organ donation, outlining the organs and tissues that can be donated during one’s lifetime as well as after death. She emphasized the vital importance of deceased organ donation, highlighting its potential to offer renewed life to patients with end-stage organ failure. She also addressed and dispelled common myths and misconceptions related to organ donation through factual clarifications.
Participants were encouraged to pledge their organs, with Ms. Priya describing it as one of the greatest humanitarian gifts an individual can offer. She further explained the organ donor pledging process, clarifying that although a person may register as an organ donor, consent from the next of kin is essential for organ retrieval after death.
Informational pamphlets were distributed to reinforce the key messages. Close to 15 participants attended the session and gained valuable insights into organ donation and its life-saving potential.
