MOHAN Foundation Conducts Organ Donation Awareness Talk at Medicine OPD

  • On January 29, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the Medicine Out-Patient Department (OPD) of JNIMS as part of its ongoing public education and outreach initiatives.

     

    The session was facilitated by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi, Program Executive, along with Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.

     

    Ms. Priya provided an overview of organ donation and emphasized its life-saving significance. She explained the process of organ donation, the organs and tissues that can be donated, and the differences between living and deceased donor transplantation. She also highlighted the ongoing cornea and kidney transplantation programmes in Manipur.

     

    In addition, she addressed common myths and misconceptions related to organ donation and clarified the distinction between circulatory death and brain death, thereby enhancing participants’ understanding of the subject. She concluded the session by encouraging attendees to register as organ donors and to share their decision with their next of kin, ensuring that their intention to offer the “Gift of Life” is honoured.

     

    Informational leaflets containing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) were distributed to reinforce the key messages delivered during the session. Approximately 25 participants attended the programme and gained meaningful awareness through the interaction.
