  • On April 09, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted an awareness talk on organ donation at the Youth Technical Training Society, Karuna Sadan, Chandigarh. The session was coordinated with the support of Ms. Kawaljeet Kaur, computer instructor at the institute.

Ms. Preeti Gupta opened the program by introducing MF-SRDF, its mission, and vision, emphasizing organ donation as a gift of life.

The talk covered a wide scope of topics:

    • the concept and impact of organ and tissue donation
    • the current status of organ donation in India compared to its requirements
    • distinctions between live related and live unrelated donations
    • the medical differences between natural death, brain death, and coma
    • Myths surrounding organ donation were addressed with factual information
    • Real-life transplant stories were shared to inspire participants.
    • Students were encouraged to discuss their wishes with their families, highlighting the importance of family consent in India.

Around 30 students from different parts of Chandigarh attended the session. The students came away with a clearer understanding of brain death and how it differs from a coma, which helped eliminate lingering misconceptions. Many of them expressed a readiness to communicate their intention to donate organs with their families, underscoring the vital role of family dialogue in shaping decisions about organ donation within the cultural context of India.

The session successfully raised awareness among young students about the importance of organ donation. By engaging with the Youth Technical Training Society, MF-SRDF contributed to building a culture of informed decision-making and family communication around organ donation.
