On February 11, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, in association with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Porompat, Imphal East, Manipur, conducted an organ donation awareness talk at the General Outpatient Department (OPD) of JNIMS as part of its ongoing public education initiatives.
The session was facilitated by Ms. Moirangthem Priya Devi and Mr. Elangbam Paringanba Singh, Program Executives from MOHAN Foundation, Imphal.
Ms. Priya began the session by explaining the fundamentals of organ donation, including its meaning, the organs that can be donated, and the difference between living and deceased donation. She elaborated on deceased organ donation, highlighting that organs donated by individuals declared brain-dead can save multiple lives and significantly improve the quality of life of recipients. She also emphasized that buying and selling of organs is a punishable offense under the law.
Participants were encouraged to pledge their support for organ donation and to help spread awareness within the community. She further clarified that even if an individual has registered as an organ donor, organ retrieval after death is carried out only with the consent of the family.
Informational pamphlets were distributed to enhance participants’ understanding. Approximately 35 individuals attended the session and gained valuable knowledge about the life-saving and transformative impact of organ donation.
