MOHAN Foundation Conducted an Awareness session on Organ Donation at Anjuman Girls Degree College, Sadar, Nagpur.

  • On 30th January, Mr. Bulu Behera transplant Coordinator at MOHAN Foundation was invited by National Service Scheme (NSS) in charge Dr.Arjita Suri  to conduct an awareness session on organ donation for their NSS students. The session took place in the conference hall of the college.  

    Mr. Behera explained the following points related to organ donation-

    • Types of Organ donor and who can be a donor.
    • The status of organ donation in India and their requirement vs donation rates.
    • He explained 5 myths on organ donation with their corresponding reality check.
    • Difference between circulatory death and brain death.
    • Age is not a constraint in donating organs.
    • Real Life story of an organ transplant patient was shared with the participants.
    • Importance of donor card.
    • How to pledge for organ donation on MOHAN Foundation’s website.
    • Information about hand transplant.
    • Information about organ transplant Act 1994
    • Information about NOTTO, ROTTO, SOTTO & ZTCC.
    • Process of organ priority list.

     Around 45 participants from their NSS unit participated in the program. 10 amongst them signed the consent form to get a donor card. All the participants were motivated and convinced to support organ donation. NSS in charge Dr. Arjita Suri enthusiastically participated in spreading awareness for a noble cause.
