The program aimed to strengthen advocacy skills among patient representatives across Asia.

The program consisted of a series of four virtual sessions held between February and April 2025, followed by an intensive two-day, in-person workshop held in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 23–24, 2025. The virtual sessions focused on key foundational topics, including:

    • Addressing Stigma
    • Navigating Healthcare Systems

The in-person workshop brought together 22 representatives from patient advocacy groups across India, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia, and was conducted on 23-24 April 2025, at Bangkok, Thailand. Ms. Jairam attended as a representative of the organ donation and transplantation patient community in India.

A majority of the participants were from the rare disease and diabetes space, offering a rich and diverse mix of perspectives. In addition to gaining practical knowledge and strategic tools, the program provided an excellent networking opportunity. Participants learned from one another’s experiences and approaches, strengthening cross-border understanding and solidarity among patient advocates representing a wide range of health conditions.

The two-day workshop covered a wide range of practical and strategic topics, including:

    • Project Planning and Needs Assessment
