Updated on Wednesday, March 27, 2019
  • On 23rd March 2019 auto stands and petty shops in Koyambedu, Chennai were visited and around 10 people were met in this area. Mr. Albin Joseph and Ms. Sunisha S.S, Interns from MMM College of Health Sciences approached auto drivers in the Mofussil Bus Terminus and explained the concepts of organ donation and also answered questions that were asked. Quite a few were unaware of organ donation. Information brochures, green ribbons and donor cards were distributed among them.

There were numerous queries relating to organ donation which included:

    • Why should I let my family know that I am willing to donate organs?
    • What are the organs and tissues that can be donated after death?
    • Can I sell my organs?
    • Involvement of family and consent in the donation process
    • Why is organ donation important?
    • How does one get an organ donor card?
    • What does being an organ donor mean?

Stickers that contain the helpline number of MOHAN Foundation were also distributed to them. 4 drivers agreed to support the cause by pasting the stickers on their auto rickshaws. They were gifted ‘Proud to be an Organ Donor’ badges for supporting the cause.

The National Organ Donation Toll-free Help Line - 1800 103 7100, is operational under the 'Gift Hope, Gift Life' project supported by the SBI Foundation and SBI DFHI Limited.
