Gurunanak College supports Organ Donation

  • MOHAN Foundation was invited for an awareness program for the students of Gurunanak College, Velachery on 12th February 2018 at 10:30 AM. About 100 students of the Department of Zoology (1st and 2nd year), attended the session. This was an initiative of TIMES OF INDIA

    Dr. Sanjayan, Head of Department of Zoology and Dean of the college gave a welcome speech and welcomed the guest speaker Mr. Siva Shankar from MOHAN Foundation. Mr. Siva Shankar was felicitated with a bouquet of flowers.

    Mr. Siva Shankar started the session with a questions like

    1. What is Organ Donation?
    2. The organs that are there in Human Body
    3. Which Organs can be donated?

    Many students answered and got in the mind-frame of understanding the concept better. Mr. Siva Shankar started explaining the activities, history of MOHAN Foundation and the Concepts of Organ Donation. He went through the entire concept such as

    1. Organs that can be donated under different circumstances
    2. Brain Death and Coma
    3. Myths on Organ Donation
    4. Donor Card and website

    The session went on for 1 hour. The students had some questions like:

    1. What is the use of Donor Card?
    2. What is use of registering when the parents do not accept the decision?

    About 10 students pledged their organs after the talk  and picked a donor card. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sanjayan  for the staff and praising the activities done by MOHAN Foundation.
