  • On January 29, 2026, MOHAN Foundation conducted “Faith & the Gift of Life”, an organ donation awareness session at the Churches of North India (CNI) Program Office, Behind Labor Court, Nagpur, during a Workshop on Discipleship and Witnessing. The session was organized at the invitation of Rt. Revd. Andrew B. Rathod, Director of Satya Niketan School of Theology, with the objective of sensitizing church leaders and pastors from various states about the concept and importance of organ and tissue donation, and empowering them to become advocates for this life-saving cause within their own states and communities.

Ms. Veena, Project Manager, MOHAN Foundation–Nagpur, led the session and provided comprehensive information on organ donation. She explained the concept of brain stem death, clarified how it differs from coma, and highlighted why organ donation is both possible and crucial in such cases—especially in view of the large number of patients in India awaiting life-saving organ transplants. She also emphasized the urgent need for increased awareness and clarified that organ donation in India is legal and well regulated under the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act.

The objectives and activities of MOHAN Foundation’s organ donation program were presented through informative videos and PowerPoint presentations. These highlighted real-life stories of organ donors and recipients, the positive impact of donation on families, and the role of faith, compassion, and humanity in supporting this noble cause. Common misconceptions prevalent in society—such as concerns about body disfigurement, religious beliefs, and doubts regarding hospital practices—were addressed in detail. Participants actively engaged in discussions, and their questions were answered openly, fostering a transparent and trusting environment. A total of 21 pasters from Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Panjab, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & West Bengal attended this session.

Following this, Mr. Moses Gaur, Coordinator, Churches of North India, shared additional insights on organ donation. He emphasized how participants could utilize the knowledge gained from the session to support needy patients in their respective states and congregations, and to spread accurate information about organ donation within churches and local communities.

The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which several participants expressed keen interest and came forward to take the organ donation pledge, demonstrating their personal commitment to the cause and their willingness to promote organ donation within their faith circles.

At the end of the program, MOHAN Foundation expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Moses Gaur, the Churches of North India, and all the dignitaries and organizers for providing a valuable platform to discuss organ donation in a faith-based setting and for their support in fostering a positive, well-informed outlook towards organ donation among the participants.
