  • On March 7, 2026, the MOHAN Foundation, in collaboration with Candles Community, Pathur Village, Tamil Nadu, organised an eye donation awareness walkathon within the village to educate the community on the importance of eye donation. The initiative aimed to spread awareness at the grassroots level and encourage people to understand the need for eye donation and its life-changing impact.

A total of 57 students and 10 volunteers from various colleges actively participated in the walkathon. The participants were provided with placards displaying meaningful eye donation slogans, which helped in visually communicating the message to the public. Throughout the walkathon, the students enthusiastically chanted eye donation slogans, drawing the attention of local residents and creating an engaging awareness atmosphere. Wristbands were also distributed to the participants as a symbol of support for the cause.

The walkathon covered approximately 10 streets across Pathur Village, ensuring wider outreach within the community. In addition to the walkathon, focused awareness efforts were carried out by reaching around 30 households. Pamphlets about eye donation were distributed, and participants interacted directly with residents, particularly women, explaining the process of eye donation, its importance, and addressing common doubts in a simple and understandable manner. These one-on-one interactions helped in building trust and improving awareness at the household level.

Following the completion of the walkathon, all participating students and volunteers were provided with participation certificates in recognition of their involvement. Refreshments and small gifts were also distributed as a token of appreciation for their active participation and contribution to the awareness initiative.

Furthermore, information brochures were handed over to Ms. Angeline, the Candles Community In-charge, to further disseminate awareness among tuition students, their parents, and other villagers, thereby extending the impact of the programme beyond the event.

The MOHAN Foundation team expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Angeline and the Candles Community for their valuable cooperation and for providing the opportunity to conduct this meaningful awareness programme in Pathur Village.
