Drivers learn about organ donation at a transport office

  • Mr. Sharad Jighkar, Regional Transport Officer, Giripeth, Nagpur invited MOHAN foundation to conduct an awareness session on organ donation on 28 July 2018. This was for drivers who apply for vehicle registration and driving license and the session was conducted in the training hall.

    Mr. Bulu Behera delivered a talk on Organ Donation. In his talk he explained in detail the Life Saving nature of the donation, types of donors, difference between brain death and natural death, tissue donation and need to drive safely. He also explained the process of donor pledging and importance of speaking to your family. He gave a few examples of the brave families of Nagpur who agreed to donate the organs of their loved one.

    It was a very interactive session. 32 drivers were present at the talk and 3 drivers signed consent form and took donor cards.

    The drivers asked the following questions:

    • What is green corridor?
    • After heart transplant what is the recipient life span?
    • What is the process of skin transplant?
