Deceased Organ Donation Awareness session Regional Transport Office, Nagpur on 5th July 2016

• MOHAN Foundation was invited by Dr. D. T. Powar, Regional Transport Officer, Geripeth, Nagpur   to conduct an awareness session on organ donation. The talk was for those drivers who apply for vehicles registration and driving license and was held on 5^th July 2016.

  Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant coordinator  of MOHAN Foundation delivered a talk on Organ donation. In his talk he explained the following points:-

  • What is Organ Donation?
  • Who can donate organs?
  • Which organs can be donated during live?

  • Difference between organ & tissue.
  • Types of organ donation.
  • Types of death.
  • THO Act and myths related to Organ donation.
  • Importance of Donor card, Helpline number and website.
  • Deceased donation cases in Nagpur.
  • Kidney transplant hospitals in Nagpur.

  It was a very interactive session. Approximately 40 drivers were present during the talk. 1 driver took the donor card.

  The Drivers asked the following questions:-

  Lungs transplant can be success?

  Live donor can be donate lungs?
