
CEDMA (Centre for Development Madras) Chennai invited MOHAN Foundation on 25th May 2013 to deliver a talk on Organ Donation for their Annai Self-Help Group (SHG) members in Vyasarpadi.
Mr.Ananth, Transplant coordinator spoke on the following aspects of organ donation:
1. Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
2. Brain Death- how it’s different from natural death and coma
3. Organs that can be donated after brain death and natural death
4. Importance of Donor card
5. Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
Queries raised during the interaction were:
1. If there is cardiac death in the house, who should be contacted for eye donation?
2. Should we contact MOHAN Foundation in case of brain death?
These queries were answered.
All the 13 SHG members present pledged for a Donor Card and expressed their support.
