Celebration of Women’s Day- Motivating talk on Organ Donation for Employees of Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited

  • On 8th March 2022 Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited organized an event on organ donation on account of Women’s Day Celebration at their office in Mumbai.

    To begin with, Ms. Sonali an employee of Adani Electricity spoke a few words about organ donation and welcomed the speaker, Ms. Jaya Jairam to the dais to share her presentation about organ donation.

    Ms. Jaya Jairam introduced herself and explained her life journey of being a Kidney recipient. She then asked the participants to take a moment and think about how they personally felt about organ donation.

    Thereafter, she explained the concept”From Dust to Life” and touched upon below topics about organ donation:

    1. Why donate organs?
    2. Who can donate?
    • Living donor
    • Deceased donor

    3. Age limit to donate organs

    4. Which organs can be donated in -

    • Natural Death
    • Brain Death

    5. Concept of Brain death and Circulatory death

    6. Eye donation and how it can be done even at home

    7. Importance of organ donation in India

    8. Organ donation scenario in India as compared to rest of the world

    9.  Myths Vs. Facts about organ donation

    10. How the audience can get involved in the cause of organ donation?

    11. Details of organ donation Helpline 18001031700 was shared with the participants.

    Questions asked by the audience were as follows:

    1. How long can Kidneys be stored after retrieval?
    2. How corneas are stored in eye banks?

     

    The audience gave a huge round of applause to Ms. Jaya Jairam for her inspiring speech. Ms. Sonali thanked Ms. Jaya Jairam and Ms. Rashmi and honored them with flowerpot.

     

    After lunch break, Ms. Rashmi Shetty organized a stall about organ donation for the employees of Adani Electricity, gave them the required information, and assisted 15 of them to pledge their organs through pledge forms. 300 members participated in the event.
