  • On August 6, 2025, Mr. Gabriel Pereira, Organ Donation Ambassador with MOHAN Foundation, and Dr. Amol Mahaldar from Manipal Hospital were invited to the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Dona Paula at Terminal Banquet, Caculo Mall, Panjim, Goa.

President RTN Azeema Kulkarni welcomed all members, setting the tone for the meeting’s theme, “Celebrating World Organ Donation Day.” Following an introduction by Secretary RTN Sheebani Sriram, Dr. Amol delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation on brain death, it’s possible causes, and the organs that can be donated. He stressed the importance of helmet use for two-wheeler riders and highlighted that anyone wishing to be an organ donor must inform their next of kin, as family consent is essential for the donation process.

Mr. Gabriel then spoke about MOHAN Foundation’s work in Goa, describing it as an information hub that organizes awareness programs and operates an information desk on organ donation. He shared that his motivation to become an Organ Donation Ambassador came from a kidney transplant experience in his own family. To date, he has conducted around 180 awareness sessions and has been actively involved at the information desk.

The event was attended by about 20 Rotarians. Flyers addressing frequently asked questions about organ donation were distributed to all participants.
