Awareness talk on organ donation for self help group members at Wanadongri

  • On 7th March 2014 MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mr. Amit Das Project Coordinator of Evanligical Social Action Forum, Nagpur talk on deceased organ donation.  Ms. Kanchan Shewde Transplant Coordinator of MOHAN Foundation conducted the session for the members of Self Help Groups at Wanadongri, Nagpur.

     

    Miss. Kanchan Shewde gave a talk in which she highlighted the concept of brain death and organ donation.  She listed the organs and tissues that can be donated after Brain death, Natural death & while living. She emphasized that after brain death it is impossible to come back life. Yet there can be positive outcome from the tragedy.  A second chance at life can be provided to organ failure patients if the relatives of brain death patient consent to donate organs and tissues such as kidney, heart, liver, pancreas, lungs, eyes, bone etc.

     

    After the talk some question raised by participants such as given below.

    1. What are the processes of Eye donation?

    2.Where is MOHAN Foundation Office?

    4. What is the process for kidney transplant?

    5. What is live donation?

    6. How  will MOHAN Foundation know about the death of donor card holder?

     

    80 members attended the session.
