Awareness session on Organ Donation conducted for the NSS students of PC JABIN College, Karnataka

  • On 21st April 2022, MOHAN Foundation was invited to conduct an interactive session on organ donation and transplantation by Dr Umesh Hallikeri and Mr Vinayak NSS program officer for the NSS students of PC JABIN College, Hubbli.  Ms. Sheetal Mundada, Transplant coordinator, MOHAN Foundation-Belgaum was the resource person.

    At the beginning of the session Ms. Sheetal Mundada welcomed all the participants and highlighted the importance of organ donation. She began by asking a few questions and kept the audience engaged. She then explained basics of organ donation and transplantation with the help of a power point presentation.

    The following topics were discussed in detail: 

    • Concepts of Organ donation.
    • Jeevasarthakathe and its role
    • Skin donation and its importance 
    • Organ failure & need for organ donation
    • Importance of a Donor Card
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation
    • Organ Donation Myths and facts

    The students were very excited and actively contributed in the session. During the interaction, the audience raised the following questions:

    • How to register for organ donor card.
    • From which part is skin taken.
    • Is any disfigurement of body after donation?

    Mrs. Sheetal Mundada also explained current organ donation rates in India and highlighted the gravity of the situation. At the session, Dr Umesh Hallikeri and Mr. Vinayak thanked MOHAN Foundation and said that the session was very insightful and thought provoking.

    Close to 70 students attended the session.
