  • MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ and tissue donation awareness session at Sri Venkateshwaraa Nursing College, Red Hills, Chennai on July 19, 2025. The session witnessed active participation from over 170 nursing students and faculty members of the college.

The program began with a session by Dr. Hemal Kanvinde, who highlighted the importance of organ donation and sensitized the audience about the concept of brain death.  This included the need for organs, brain death and coma, how and when organ donation can be done and what organs and tissues can be donated.

She then explained about MOHAN Foundation’s training programs and professional courses related to organ and tissue donation. Real-life case studies were shared to offer deeper insight and better understanding of the donation and transplant process.

The second session was handled by Ms. Sangeetha, who focused on eye donation. She explained about corneal blindness, the need for cornea donation, and the procedure to pledge for eye and organ donation. To make the session more interactive and engaging, she conducted a quiz based on the topics discussed. This saw enthusiastic participation from the students.

MOHAN Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to Ms. Vimala, Principal of Sri Venkateshwaraa Nursing College, and staff  for their support and for providing this opportunity to create awareness among the future healthcare professionals.
