Awareness session and Information Stall at IIT Bombay, Powai

  • On 19th October 2019, a mega blood donation was organised by Abhyuday which is social body of IIT Bombay, Powai. MOHAN Foundation was invited for installation of informative stall and for giving awareness about the Organ Donation. All the arrangements and crowd management was supported by Abhyuday, IIT Bombay Students.

    Dr. Jimmy held few awareness sessions and introduced MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision and philanthropy. She introduced the concept of Organ and tissue donation. She also explained the types of death viz. Cardiac and Brain Death and the organs and tissues that can be donated. She elaborated the procedure about bone donation which was new topic for Students. She also described that tissue donation (skin & eyes) can happen even at home which caught attention of the crowd and everybody started asking queries related to tissue donation which were answered promptly. She also discussed about Organ Donations that can happen in case of Brain Dead case and number of lives that can be saved by giving the examples of successful transplant stories articles and news about green corridor which was somewhat familiar to the crowd.

    About 250 blood donations happened in the mega camp and about 100 people visited the stall. About 25 pledges and few pledges were taken online. Abhyuday, IIT Bombay also presented a Memento to MOHAN Foundation for spreading awareness about the cause to their students & other faculty members. We thank Ms Paridhi Choudhary for inviting us and supporting the cause of Organ Donation.
