Awareness on Organ Donation through Nukkad Natak at Urology OPD, AIIMS Rishikesh

  • On May 06, 2026, the College of Nursing, AIIMS Rishikesh, in collaboration with MOHAN Foundation, Uttarakhand, organized an impactful Nukkad-Natak on organ donation in the waiting area outside the Urology OPD at AIIMS Rishikesh. the Nukkad-Natak was performed by first-year students of the College of Nursing and was joined by Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader, MOHAN Foundation, stationed at AIIMS Rishikesh, and Mr. Arun Sharma, Program Executive, MOHAN Foundation, Uttarakhand.

     

    The Nukkad-Natak was conducted to create awareness among the general public, patients, attendants, and hospital staff about the importance of organ donation and the life-saving impact it can have on individuals awaiting transplants. Marking the commencement of “National Nurses Week 2026,” the performance used engaging storytelling and relatable scenarios to effectively communicate key messages on organ donation and inspire community participation in the cause.

     

    Following the Nukkad-Natak, the audience was engaged through an interactive question-and-answer activity conducted by the participants to reinforce key messages related to organ donation and assess public awareness on the subject. Questions addressing common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation, eligibility for donation, brain death, and the importance of family consent were discussed, encouraging active participation and helping clarify doubts among the attendees.

     

    Subsequently, Mr. Sanchit Arora addressed the audience and elaborated on the importance of organ donation, the process involved in deceased and living donation, and the need to spread awareness within the community. He also introduced the work of MOHAN Foundation and highlighted its ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting organ donation and supporting transplant-related activities across the country.

     

    The program ended with participants applauding the efforts of nursing Students of AIIMS Rishikesh & MOHAN Foundation and expressing their willingness to speak with their families about pledging their organs.

     

    Approximately 250 participants attended the program. Notably, 13 people registered to donate their organs on the official NOTTO website following the event.
