Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Women, Sector-26, Chandigarh

  • On 25th February 2022, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Ms. Savita Saini, NSS Program Officer, to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their NSS volunteers at Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Women, Sector-26 Chandigarh. Around 100 volunteers attended the session.

     

    At the beginning of the session, Ms. Savita Saini welcomed all the participants. She invited Ms. Neha Sharma Katoch to begin the session. She began asking few questions to students that which organs can be donated while living? Most of the students were aware about kidney transplant and liver transplant.

     

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Neha Sharma Katoch.

     

    In this talk, she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation and its need
    • When and how does organ donation take place
    • Organs that can be donated during life and after death
    • The transplant waiting list in India
    • Brain death
    • Difference between brain death and coma
    • Contraindications to organ donation
    • Transplant Law
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation
    • Organ donation myths and facts
    • Eye donation

     

    At the end, Ms. Savita Saini on the behalf of the audience thanked MOHAN Foundation and Ms. Neha for sharing with student’s information on a topic of great importance and relevance. Around 20 NSS volunteers & Ms. Savita Saini signed up as organ donor at the end of the session.
