Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Rayat Bahra University, Mohali

  • On 2nd May2018, MOHAN Foundation was invited by the Rayat Bahra University Kharar Kurali Road, Mohali, Sahauran, Punjab to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their students which was held in an auditorium. Around 253 students participated in the program.

     

    Mr. Kuldeep Singh, Training Supervisor addressed the gathering and gave a brief introduction on organ donation to the participants.

     

    Firstly, Ms. Aakriti Negi introduced herself to the students and after that she asked the questions from students to check their knowledge about organ donation and transplantation.

     

    Participants were given an introduction and presentation on organ donation and brain death by Ms. Aakriti Negi.

     

    In this talk she explained the following points: -

    • Organ donation types and who can be a donor
    • The status of Organ Donation in India and their requirements vs donation rates
    • She challenged 5 myths with 5 facts on Organ Donation
    • Difference between natural death and brain death
    • Age is not a constraint in donating their organs.
    • Real life stories of an organ transplant being shared with the participants
    • Importance of Donor card
    • To pledge their organs they can register at MOHAN Foundation
    • MOHAN Foundation mission & vision

     

    The entire group got motivated and convinced to support organ donation and they would love to share their wish with their families and sharing the gift of life. All the participants picked up the donor cards. Everyone applauded and she announced to all use MOHAN Foundation website and helpline number to clarify any doubt.

     

    After the talk participants asked a few questions which were answered to their satisfaction.

    MOHAN Foundation brochures were also distributed in the end by Ms. Aruna Kumari Salwani, Intern.
