Awareness Talk on Organ Donation at Goswami Ganesh Dutta Sanatan Dharma College, Sector-32 C Chandigarh

  • On 2nd February 2024, MOHAN Foundation was invited by Mrs. Renuka, NSS Program Officer to conduct an awareness talk on organ donation for their NSS volunteers.  Around 100 volunteers attended the session.

     

     Ms. Neha Sharma began the session by asking participants what they knew about organ donation. She then explained the current status of organ donation in India, covering the following topics in detail:

    • Organ donation and its need
    • When and how does organ donation take place
    • Organs that can be donated during life and after death
    • The transplant waiting list in India
    • Brain death
    • Difference between brain death and coma
    • Contraindications to organ donation
    • Transplant Law
    • Role of MOHAN Foundation
    • Organ donation Myths and Fact
    • Eye Donation

     A short informative film on brain death was shown, and the importance of family consent in the process of organ donation was also explained in detail. Participants also shared their views about the cause.

    Over all, the session was very interactive, where participants enthusiastically contributed to the discussion. 

    At the end, Mrs. Renuka NSS Program Officer thanked MOHAN Foundation and Ms. Neha Sharma for sharing with student’s information on a topic of great importance and relevance.
