


MOHAN Foundation – Kerala, in collaboration with Mritasanjeevani - Deceased Donor Organ Transplant Programme, Kerala organized an Organ Donation Awareness Programme for the public in the Nephrology OPD, Super specialty block, Govt. Medical College Hospital Trivandrum (GMCT) on 4th July 2013. A group of 50 patients and their care takers attended the awareness programme.
Dr. Nobel Gracious, Nodal Officer, Deceased Donor Programme, Govt. of Kerala gave an introduction on Organ Donation. It was followed by a talk given by Mr. Aneesh P V, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Kerala. With the use of powerpoint presentation, he explained the concept of Organ Donation.
The main topics discussed during the programme were:
The group was moved by the real donor stories. At the end of the session few people raised the queries like:
1. What is the procedure involved in Whole Body Donation?
2. How to register for cadaver transplantation?
3. Whom to approach for cadaver transplantation?
4. How can lungs be donated?
All the queries were answered and the group promised to support for Organ Donation.
