Awareness Stall at GRT Mahalakshmi Vidhyalaya Higher Secondary School, Chennai

  • GRT Mahalakshmi Vidhyalaya Higher Secondary School, Ashok Nagar conducted a “Career Fest 2012” on 5th and 6th of October 2012.  They invited MOHAN Foundation to place an awareness stall on Organ Donation on those two days in order to inculcate the noble thought into the young minds.

     

    On 5th Oct’2012 students from different schools visited the stall. The transplant coordinators Ms.Veena, Ms.Kavitha & Mr.Johnson educated the students on organ and tissue donation. Later Ms. Veena, Transplant Co-ordinator made a presentation on organ donation in which she explained the concept of Organ Donation, difference between Brain Death and Coma and importance of Donor Card to the XI & XII class student and teacher of the schools. An interactive session was held at the school auditorium. A video clip of donors was shown at the end of the session.

     

    On 6th Oct’2012 many parents visited the stall with their children and clarified their queries on Organ Donation, the frequently asked question were -

     

    What is the use of donor card?

     

    Whom to contact in case of death?

     

    Who cannot donate organs?

     

    Students who visited the stall on 5th Oct’2012 brought their parents to the stall next day to take a pledge to donate their organs. Around 102 students picked up the Donor Cards for their parents and students pledged to Donate Blood when they become 18.
