On July 19, 2024, the MOHAN Foundation team conducted an awareness session for first-year students at R.B. AMIN College. The primary goal of the session was to educate students about organ donation through public awareness initiatives. The discussion highlighted the crucial role of NGOs in disseminating information to the general public and addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation.
Key topics covered included the distinction between brain stem death and coma, the legal framework governing organ donation, and the guidelines set by state governments. The session also provided detailed information on who can donate organs, which organs and tissues can be donated, and the overall process of organ and tissue donation.
The event concluded with a Q&A session where attendees had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify their doubts. Approximately 80 students participated in the session, and 4 of them committed to becoming organ donors.
