On December 02, 2025, MOHAN Foundation conducted an organ donation awareness session at Divine Academy, Rishikesh, following an invitation from Mrs. Poonam, Principal of the school and the session was attended by the staff and students of the school.
The session was conducted by Mr. Arun Sharma, Program Executive, Uttarakhand, accompanied by Mr. Sanchit Arora, Project Leader at MOHAN Foundation, posted at AIIMS Rishikesh.
Mr. Arun opened the session by inviting the students and staff to share their existing understanding of organ donation, thereby creating an open and engaging atmosphere. He then delivered a detailed session covering the concept and importance of organ donation, eligibility to become a donor, and the processes involved both during life and after death. Key information on eye and skin donation was shared, including guidelines for preserving corneas after death. The session further highlighted the goals of the MOHAN Foundation.
Thereafter, Mr. Arora explained about the Anudaan initiative, addressed common myths and facts surrounding organ donation, and outlined the various ways individuals can contribute to this life-saving cause.
The session remained highly interactive, with participants asking questions like:
• Who can donate their organs?
• Why can’t we donate organs in natural death?
• Are there any benefits or incentives given to donor family?
• How can we do whole body donation?
• How last rights are done in case of whole-body donation?
• How corneas from a single donor can be transplanted to four recipients?
• Can we donate organs even if the family disagrees?
• Can I donate an organ while alive?
• Does religion support organ donation?
Approximately 30 participants attended the session. Many expressed willingness to pledge after discussing with their families.
