Awareness Session on Organ Donation at DPS International School, Saket

  • On July 31, 2015, MOHAN Foundation was invited to give a talk on organ donation for the students of DPS International School, Saket, New Delhi.

     

    Established in 2003, DPS International School, Saket with its junior branch in R.K. Puram, New Delhi is among the most reputed and renowned school in the country. It is a composite school from Nursery to Grade XII (A Level).

     

    The initiative for the session was taken by Ms. Gayatri Tripathy (Biology teacher for senior classes) and held in the schools’ auditorium. Approximately 500 students ranging from class VI to XII attended the session and were surprisingly well informed about the topic.

     

    The session was taken by Dr. Muneet, wherein she explained the concept of organ donation, brain death, laws pertaining to organ donation and also gave examples for the better understanding of all present. She also spoke about myths and facts related to organ donation. She also focussed on cornea donation and the children seem to know about it. The students listened attentively and asked intelligent questions.

     

    The session ended with few words from the principal who shared the main reason for organizing the session was to create awareness so that more and more people come to know about organ donation and also requested the students to go back home and talk to their parents about what they learned today and pass the message of organ donation.
