On 12th August, 2013 an awareness session on organ donation was held at the Seminar Hall, Amal Jyothi College of Engineering (AJCE), Kottayam, Kerala. The Mechanical Department Association, AJCE, Kottayam had invited Mrithasanjeevani, Kerala Network for Organ Sharing (KNOS) to conduct the session. Mr. Aneesh P. V., Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation, Trivandrum conducted the session.
Mr. Jicson, Mechanical Department Association Coordinator, AJCE delivered the welcome speech. Following that; Mr. Aneesh made his presentation and he covered the following topics: the importance of organ donation; the difference between brain death and coma; the organs that can be donated after brain death and organs that can be donated after cardiac death; the importance of signing a donor card and about the activities of Mrithasanjeevani and KNOS.
Around 200 students were present at the session. At the end about 80% of them pledged their organs and promised to carry the donor card with them. The vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Bini Koshy, Professor, Mechanical Department, AJCE, Kottayam.
