  • An organ donation awareness session was conducted on December 6, 2025, at the Traffic Training Institute, Byculla, exclusively for the Mumbai Traffic Police, with 100 officers in attendance. This session, led by Ms. Sakshi Kshirsagar from MOHAN Foundation, was the second session for the same batch of officers, reinforcing key concepts and strengthening their understanding of organ donation. Despite a temporary electricity outage at the venue, the session continued smoothly through open interaction and discussion, reflecting the enthusiasm and engagement of both the speaker and participants.

Ms. Sakshi introduced the mission and work of MOHAN Foundation and explained the fundamentals of organ donation, including living and deceased donation, family consent, and legal procedures under the Transplantation of Human Organs Act (THOA). Officers were sensitized to the concepts of cardiac death and brain stem death, the roles of eye and skin banks, and the importance of timely coordination in the donation process. Special emphasis was placed on the critical role of the Traffic Police in facilitating Green Corridors, ensuring swift and safe transport of organs to save lives.

Given that this was a follow-up session, Ms. Sakshi actively engaged officers by asking various questions, encouraging them to reflect on real-life scenarios and their responsibilities during organ transport. The interactive Q&A session addressed common myths and facts, leading to meaningful discussions. Officers expressed strong interest, clarity, and commitment toward supporting organ donation initiatives, reaffirming the vital role of the Mumbai Traffic Police as key partners in the organ donation ecosystem.
