Awareness Session on Organ Donation Conducted at Association of Surgeons Nagpur Installation Ceremony, Nagpur

  • On April 12, 2026, MOHAN Foundation, Nagpur attended the Association of Surgeons Nagpur (ASN) 2026–2027 Installation Ceremony and conducted an Organ Donation Awareness Session for surgeons and public. The objective of the session was to sensitize medical professionals about the importance of organ donation and strengthen their role in promoting deceased donation.

    The session was attended by eminent dignitaries including Dr. Manish Shrigiriwar, Professor at AIIMS-Nagpur &President ZTCC-Nagpur, Dr. Manish Balwani (Secretory ISOT), Dr. Prabhat Ranjan, Dr. Shankar Khobragade, Dr. Deepa Jahagirdar President ASN-Nagpur, and Dr. Pravin Vairagade., Secretory ASN.

    On behalf of MOHAN Foundation, Ms. Veena Wathore facilitated the “Gift of Life” session. She provided detailed insights on key aspects such as brain stem death, provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act (THOTA), and the current scenario of deceased organ donation in India. She also highlighted the challenges in organ donation, including awareness gaps, consent-related issues, and the need for stronger coordination among healthcare professionals.

    To enhance the impact of the session, a short-animated film titled “Life Beyond Life” was screened for the audience, which effectively conveyed the emotional and social significance of organ donation.

    The session was informative and encouraged meaningful discussion among the participants regarding the role of surgeons in identifying potential donors and supporting the organ donation process.

    On behalf of MOHAN Foundation, Ms. Neha Sailwar, Mr. Dhiraj Kurve, and Ramesh Bhisikar, MF Ambassador, also participated in the ceremony and supported the awareness initiative.

    Around 60 participants attended the session. The program concluded with positive engagement and contributed to strengthening awareness and professional commitment towards organ donation among the medical community.
