Awareness Session on Eye Donation Conducted at Primary Health Centre Kelva Mahim, Palghar

  • An eye donation awareness session was conducted on January 12, 2026, at the Primary Health Center, Kelva Mahim, Palghar, with the objective of educating staff members and the general public about the importance of eye donation and its role in restoring vision.

     

    The session was facilitated by Ms. Prachiti Mali, who provided detailed information on the concept of eye donation and its significance in addressing corneal blindness. She explained the causes of corneal blindness, the importance of corneal tissue, and the precautions to be taken to ensure successful donation. The eligibility criteria, including the age factor, were also discussed, highlighting that individuals of most age groups can donate their eyes.

     

    In addition, the session covered important legal aspects related to eye donation, including consent procedures and the involvement of family members. Ms. Prachiti also addressed common myths and misconceptions associated with eye donation, offering clear and factual explanations to enhance participants’ understanding.

     

    A total of 26 participants, including staff members and members of the general public, attended the session. The participants were attentive and engaged, making the session informative and effective in spreading awareness about eye donation.
