Awareness Program on Organ Donation by MOHAN Foundation at a Fire Station, Takarjala, Sepahijala, Tripura

  • On March 24, 2026, MOHAN Foundation organized an awareness program on organ donation at the fire station in Takarjala, Sepahijala, Tripura. The session was conducted for firefighters deployed at the Takarjala fire station.

     

    MOHAN Foundation was represented by Mr. Vincent Debbarma, Project Lead, Tripura, and Ms. Nipa Modak, Program Executive.

     

    Mr. Biswajit Debbarma, an Organ Donation Ambassador of Tripura, who was trained under the Angels of Change program in December 2025 by MOHAN Foundation, supported the coordination and organization of the event.

     

    The program began with a welcome address and brief introduction by Mr. Biswajit, followed by a short welcome speech by the Officer-in-Charge of the fire station.

     

    Subsequently, the session was taken forward by Mr. Vincent, who introduced MOHAN Foundation and explained the concept and significance of organ donation, the different types of donors, and the organs and tissues that can be donated. He also clarified the difference between brain death and coma, highlighted the importance of cornea donation, and outlined key provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994. He also spoke about the important roles firefighters play in saving lives in various emergency situations.

     

    The session also addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation and encouraged participants to actively support and promote awareness of this noble cause. It was interactive in nature, with participants asking questions and seeking clarifications for better understanding.

     

    Informational leaflets were distributed to the firefighters to reinforce key messages shared during the session.

     

    A total of 12 firefighters attended the program.
