On August 23, 2025, an awareness program on organ donation was organised at Rabi Kumar Higher Secondary School, Lembucherra, West Tripura. The program was conducted for students from Classes IX to XII, as well as the teachers. Ms. Malina Debbarma (Headmistress) and Ms. Jaya Debbarma (Assistant Headmistress) coordinated with MOHAN Foundation, Tripura to facilitate the session.
Mr. Vincent Debbarma (Project Lead, Tripura) and Ms. Nipa Modak (Program Executive, Tripura) represented MOHAN Foundation.
The program commenced at 12:30 PM in a classroom with an introductory address by Ms. Jaya Debbarma, after which the session was handed over to the representatives of MOHAN Foundation.
Mr. Vincent delivered a talk on organ donation, introducing MOHAN Foundation and sharing insights into its mission and initiatives. He explained the meaning and importance of organ donation, types of donors, organs and tissues that can be donated, brain death, coma, and corneal donation. He also highlighted the provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994, passed by the Government of India. Participants were provided with informational leaflets on organ donation.
A total of 53 students participated in the program. After the session, the MOHAN Foundation team also met with the Headmistress, Assistant Headmistress, and other teachers in the Headmistress’s office, where they shared the importance and meaning of organ donation. About 9 teachers participated in this interaction and discussion.
The awareness campaign was a significant step in promoting a life-saving cause and instilling compassion and civic responsibility among the youth.
