On August 22, 2025, an awareness program on organ donation was organised at Kamalghat Higher Secondary School, West Tripura. The objective of the program was to educate students and staff about the significance and life-saving impact of organ donation. It was conducted for students from Classes IX to XII as well as the teachers. Ms. Sutapa Debbarma (Headmistress) and Ms. Maitri Dewan (Assistant Headmistress) coordinated with MOHAN Foundation, Tripura to facilitate the session.
Mr. Vincent Debbarma (Project Lead, Tripura) and Ms. Nipa Modak (Program Executive, Tripura) represented MOHAN Foundation.
The program commenced at 2:00 PM in the classroom with an introductory address by Ms. Sutapa Debbarma.
Mr. Vincent delivered a detailed talk on organ donation. He introduced MOHAN Foundation and shared insights into its mission and initiatives. He explained the meaning and importance of organ donation, types of donors, organs and tissues that can be donated, brain death and coma, and also elaborated on corneal donation. He further highlighted the provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Act, 1994 passed by the Government of India. Participants were also provided with informational leaflets on organ donation.
A total of 68 people, including students and teachers, attended the program. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Maitri Dewan.
