An awareness session on organ and tissue donation was conducted on July 25, 2025 at Thiruvalluvar Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Pondicherry, for two sections of Cast XI students. The session was conducted by Ms. Sangeetha K from MOHAN Foundation.
Ms. Sangeetha began by introducing the activities of MOHAN Foundation and its role in promoting organ donation. She explained the concept of organ donation, Brain Death, and how organ retrieval and allocation processes are carried out. To dispel doubts, she addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding organ donation and cautioned about scams and misinformation.
She then focused on eye donation, explaining about corneal blindness, its causes, and the need for more corneal donors. The procedure of corneal donation, important precautions, and tips on maintaining good eye health—including dietary recommendations and eye care practices—were also discussed.
Students were also informed about MOHAN Foundation’s toll-free helpline number (1800 103 7100) for further guidance and support regarding organ and tissue donation. A total of 70 students actively participated in the session. The session aimed to inspire awareness and encourage students to take forward the message of organ and tissue donation.
