On May 17, 2012 an awareness kiosk on organ donation was set up in the cafeteria of Stryker as part of their corporate social responsibility. Stryker is one of the world’s leading medical technology companies which offer a diverse array of innovative medical technologies, including reconstructive, medical and surgical and neurotechnology and spine products. The awareness drive was from 1100 – 1400 hours. Employees visited the kiosk and many showed keen interest to know the process of pledging their organs after death. The concept of donating solid organs after brain death and of tissues after natural death was explained in detail as this query was raised by many. The concept of brain death was new for most of the employees which was explained in a lucid and simple manner. The organ donor cards and fliers were kept at the desk to reach maximum number of people. About 16 – 18 people pledged their organs.
