An interactive session organized for Police officers of Siddapura Police Station, Bengaluru

  • On 9th May 2022, MOHAN Foundation conducted an interactive session on organ donation for the Police Personnel at Siddapura Police Station. Mrs.  Ranjini Shankar was the key resource. She coordinated with MR. Anthony Raj who was instrumental in conducting the session at the Police station.

    Mrs. Ranjini Shankar MS began the session by introducing MOHAN Foundation, its mission, vision. She addressed the audience by asking a few questions on organ donation and elucidated the need and importance of organ donation and engaged the audience with a presentation

    The following were discussed thoroughly:

    • the concept of organ and tissue donation
    • the types of death i.e., circulatory death and brain death
    • brain death declaration, apnoea test and other clinical tests
    • procedure of deceased and live organ donation
    • procedures of eye, skin and bone donation
    • barriers to organ donation
    • myths and facts related to organ donation
    • green corridor
    • the role of Jeevasarthakathe
    • transplant Law
    • importance of a donor card 

    The following questions were raised by the audience:

    • Are communicable diseases contra indicators to organ donation?
    • Living donation process

    Mrs. Ranjini Shankar answered all the questions posed by the audience and kept them engaged throughout the session.

    78 officers signed up as organ donors at the end of the session.
