An Awareness Programme on Organ Donation at St. Anne’s Arts & Science College

  • On 21st July 2015, St. Anne’s Arts & Science College, Madavaram, Chennai conducted an awareness programme for their students on Organ Donation. Ms. Chitra, NCC Coordinator invited Cadaver Transplant Programme to give an awareness talk on Organ Donation. The programme began with a welcome address by the Principal Dr. V. Veerabadran, and he explained the importance of event and the noble cause.

    Mr. Prakash K. Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation facilitated and spoke about the Concepts of Organ Donation.

    The following topics were covered in his talk:

    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Difference between Brain death and Coma
    • Importance of the consent from the family
    • Importance of Donor card 
    • Tissues and organs  that can be donated
    • Helpline Number
    • Few short films were shown

     

    Totally 200 students participated and supported the noble cause and all of then took donor cards. At the end of the programme Participation Certificates were given to all by the college.
