On 9th August 2015 STAN 75, the alumni of Stanley Medical College invited MOHAN Foundation to set up a stall on organ donation. The alumni meeting was held in Ramada Chennai, under the initiative of Dr Ezhil Arasan. Dr. Hemal Kanvinde of MOHAN Foundation was deputed to speak on the occasion and set up a registration desk. 80 doctors and 25 family members attended the meeting.
Dr. Hemal interacted with the doctors and spoke about the activities of MOHAN Foundation. She requested them to popularize the idea of pledging organs in their hospitals and support the cause. The discussion was on the certification of brain death – who and how, medico-legal angle and how is this taken care of, compensation for families. Some doctors mooted the idea of CME to spread the knowledge on Organ Donation in the medical fraternity.
22 doctors and 7 family members pledged to donate their organs and picked a donor card. A few requested for public awareness camps in their hospitals.
