An awareness program on eye donation was held on May 21, 2025, at Akshaya Trust, Pallikaranai. The primary objective of the event was to spread awareness about corneal blindness and promote the importance of eye donation.
Ms. Sangeetha, Project Executive from MOHAN Foundation, facilitated the session. She spoke in detail about the causes of corneal blindness, the eligibility and necessary precautions before donating eyes, and the impact of such a noble act on individuals affected by vision loss.
The session was highly participative, with attendees showing keen interest and engaging actively through questions and discussions. Most of the discussion was on age, previous illness and disiases as contraindication to eye donation. One person asked about passing on the donor traits to a recipient via eye donation. A total of 46 participants took part in the program, contributing to its success and effectiveness. Most of them have pledged with Sankara Netralaya.
The event concluded with the feedback of the awareness talk and MOHAN Foundation sincerely thanks Akshaya Trust for giving this opportunity.
