A Musical Event to honour Families of Organ Donors in Nagpur

  • In association with the Zonal Transplant Coordination Center (ZTCC), MOHAN Foundation organised a donor family felicitation event on 4th September 2021 at the VANAMATI agriculture training institute’s auditorium in Dharampeth, Nagpur. The event, “Making Roads for Organ Transplantation” was organized in recognition of F.O.O.T (Friends of Organ Transplant) Soldiers and featured a music programme.

     

    Shri. Nitin Gadkari Road and Transport Minister, Dr. Madhavi Khode Chaware, Secretary - VANAMATI, Secretary and President of ZTCC - Dr. Sanjay Kolte and Dr. Vibhawari Dani were present at the event. Dr. Ravi Wankhede, Director of MOHAN Foundation was invited as a guest speaker to deliver a talk on organ donation and transplantation. He covered the following points during his talk:

    • Introduction to MOHAN Foundation and its operations
    • Criteria to donate organs
    • Difference between coma and brain death
    • Difference between circulatory death and brain death
    • The organ donation process
    • Organs and tissues that can be donated after circulatory death and brain death
    • Role of ZTCC
    • Role of NOTTO, ROTTO and SOTTO in organ donation and transplantation
    • Transplant Law
    • Importance of donor card
    • Using MOHAN Foundation’s helpline number and website

     

    Questions asked by participants:

    • What is time duration of organ retrieval?
    • Does the Government offer any financial support to organ donor families?

     

    Family members of around 80 donors were present during the program and 30 of them pledged to become organ donors.
