On 19th June, 2017 MOHAN Foundation Mumbai was invited by Cdr.Babbar and Cdr. Darshan Singh on behalf of The Association for Senior Citizens, Belapur and Mr. D.S. Yadav, MD of YAK Marine Academy to conduct an awareness talk for senior citizens and merchant navy cadets at YAK Marine Academy, Khopoli.
After sharing a brief introduction about MOHAN Foundation and its activities, Mrs. Jaya Jairam spoke about what is Organ Donation, why is it needed, who can be donors and the process of how organ donation and transplantation is done. She also discussed the various barriers, myths and facts relating to organ donation.
She went on to share her personal story of how she decided to work towards furthering the cause of organ donation after undergoing a kidney transplant.
A lot of queries were asked regarding the process of organ donation as well as the process of registration on the waiting list. Mr.Amit Shenoy and Mrs.Jaya Jairam answered all the queries.
Out of the 80 odd participants, a good 54 people including senior citizens and merchant navy cadets pledged their organs for the noble cause of organ donation. A few senior citizens were interested in organising such awareness talks in other forums.
We wish to convey our heartfelt and sincere gratitude to Cdr. Babbar, Cdr. Darshan Singh, Col. D.P.Singh and Mr D S Yadav for organising this fruitful session, thereby supporting the cause.
Mr. D S Yadav also assured regular such sessions for new recruits from time to time.
