Youth Red Cross joins MOHAN Foundation in motivating students to take a noble decision.

  • On 01st February 2015, Madras Institute of Technology, MIT Campus, Chromepet, Youth Red Cross (YRC) Chennai initiated a sensitization programme for their students. Mr. G. Anand Kumar, Programme Coordinator invited Cadaver Transplant Programme to give an awareness talk on Organ Donation. Mr. Prakash K. Transplant Coordinator deputed from MOHAN Foundation to spoke on the programme.

     

    The programme began with a welcome address by the coordinator of YRC and he shared about several activities which YRC team has conducted previously. It was an inspiring overview of the college student’s activities.

     

    Mr. Prakash K. spoke about the Concepts of Organ Donation. The following topics were covered during the talk:

    • Activities of MOHAN Foundation across the country to strengthen the Deceased Organ Donation programme
    • Types of Organ Donation - Live and Deceased Donation
    • Difference between Brain death and Coma
    • Importance of the consent from the family
    • Importance of Donor card 
    • Tissues and organs  that can be donated
    • Information sources like the website and helpline number
    • Transplant Coordinators Training Programme

     

    Totally 250 students participated in the talk and all of them picked donor cards and supported the cause.
