Workshop on Sociological Perspectives in Health Care Delivery in India - Sankara Nethralaya

  • The Sankara Netralaya Academy organized a workshop on “Sociological Perspectives in Health Care Delivery in India” on 09/01/11. Mr.Irungovel, administrator gave an introduction to the workshop. Topics discussed in the workshop: Sociological understanding in delivering Health Care in India, Corporate Social Responsibilities in Health Care, Public Relations in Health Care Sectors and effect of Globalization on Health Care. Dr.Sumana, Course Director - MOHAN Foundation gave a talk on “our responsibility in Organ Transplantation in India – Current scenario & future plan”. She started by sharing the past experiences and roles played by MOHAN foundation in promoting and enhancing the noble cause organ donation. She shared about MOHAN Foundation activities in creating awareness on organ donation in different sectors and its impact.  Ms.Veena, Transplant Coordinator – MOHAN Foundation shared her experience in Deceased Organ Donation Program in Govt. General Hospital, Chennai.

     

    The group mainly discussed about the role of the team members who contribute to the health sectors in various ways. There are pros and cons in health care system due to life style changes. By sharing the roles and responsibilities of every health profession and non-medical profession we can develop and structure a good health care delivery system in India by which all individuals have access and get benefitted out of it. Students from various schools of nursing and management students participated in this workshop. Mr.Mahalingam, Academic Officer gave vote of thanks.
