Webinar Conducted for Social Workers Group Team SAHAYOG, Pune

  • On 30th May 2021, MOHAN Foundation conducted a webinar organised by Team SAHAYOG based in Pune, a professional social workers group comprising MSW alumni and the students from all over Maharashtra. The resource person of this program was Dr. Jimmy Gupta and Mr. Jagdish Borude (Transplant coordinator) and Ms. Prarthana. The anchor of the program Ms. Bhayashree Patil introduced the speakers.

    Dr. Jimmy introduced MOHAN Foundation as an NGO working passionately for deceased organ donation for the past 23 years. She explained the difference between circulatory death & brain death in-depth. Then she elaborated on the organs & tissues that can be donated in both the cases. She also introduced the public to new advances like hand donation. She explained about tissue donation (skin, eyes & bones). She then discussed about organ donations that can happen in case of brain stem death and number of lives that can be saved by sharing a few positive stories.

    Mr. Jagdish discussed about myths around organ donation that most families of deceased donor have and how to debunk them by explaining relevant facts. Lastly, Ms. Prarthana described the importance of discussing about organ donation within the family and to carry donor card always in purse or wallet.

    About 40 people attended session and 10 took the pledge to be an organ donor. Link was shared for Organ Donation Ambassador Program with interested volunteers.  We thank Team SAHAYOG for inviting us and supporting the cause of organ donation.
