Transport Officer in Nagpur supports Organ Donation Awareness

  • Mr. Sharad Jighkar, Regional Transport Officer, Giripeth, Nagpur invited MOHAN Foundation to conduct an awareness session on organ donation. It was conducted in the training hall on 7th August 2018 and attended by drivers who apply for vehicle registration and driving license.

    Mr. Bulu Behera, Transplant Coordinator, MOHAN Foundation delivered a talk on Organ Donation. In his talk he explained for following points:

    v  What is Organ Donation, and its importance in saving lives

    v  Who can donate and when it is possible to become a donor

    v  Law on Donation and Transplantation

    v  Difference between Brain Death, Natural Death and Coma

    v  Myths related to Organ donation

    v  Stories of donors from Nagpur

    v  Transplant hospitals and tissue banks in Nagpur

    v  Importance of Donor card, Helpline number and website.

    It was a very interactive session. 30 drivers were present in the training room and 3 drivers signed consent form and picked their donor cards.

    The audience the following questions:

    • What is liver transplant?
    • How many cost for liver transplant?
    • Whom to contact for organ donation if patient is brain death?
